National Institute of design (NID) is internationally acclaimed as one of the finest educational and research institutions for industrial, communication, textile and IT integrated (experiential) design. it is an autonomous institute under the aegis of the ministry of commerce and industry, government of India and industrial research, government of India as a scientific and industrial research organisation.

The objective of National Institute of design (NID) exams:

Admission to all of the design courses is on the basis of the candidates’ performance in the two-stages of Design Aptitude Test.

  Eligibility Criteria fo NID Admission:

 

For  (B.Des.) and (GDPD) 

1. Applicants who have passed or will appear for higher       secondary (10+2) qualifying examinations in the academic year 2018–19 in any stream (Science, Arts, Commerce, etc.) from any recognized board of education.

2. For Indian Nationals in General Category: Upper age limit for candidates is 20 years as on 30 June 2019.

3.  Age relaxation as government rule.

 

For Master of Design (M. Des.)

 

1.Bachelor degree of minimum 4-year duration in any specialisation, after 10+2 system, from any university or institute recognised by law in India..

2. Bachelor degree of minimum 3-year duration in any specialisation, under the 10+2 system, from any university or institute recognised by law in India.

3. Full-time Diploma of minimum 4-year duration in Design/Fine Arts/Applied Arts/ Architecture, after 10+2 system, from any university or institute recognised by law in India.

4. Upper age limit for candidates is 30 years as on 30 June 2019. Age relaxation as government rule

National institute of design – NID Exam Pattern For B.Des/GDPD: 

The duration of The Design Aptitude Test (Prelims exam) will be 3 Hrs.

The Design Aptitude Test will be marked out of 100 points

 

The Design Aptitude Test (DAT) Prelims consists of two parts:

Part I: 70 points (Multiple-choice questions)

Part II: 30 points (Subjective questions)

          The question paper is in English.

           All questions are compulsory.

          There is no negative marking.

The Design Aptitude Test (DAT) fined the following abilities:

The DAT Mains for M. Des programmes conducted 2 parts:

Studio Test:         

  • Drawing/sketching,
  • Hands-on model making,
  • Group discussions

Total marks 100 and duration will be of three hours. The DAT Mains will be conducted in English.

National institute of design- NID Cut-Off:

Based on candidate’s rank seats will be offered. Rank will be prepared on the basis of candidate’s performance in the National Institute of Design Entrance Exam. Who are reserved categories candidates get admission through first merit list.

  For OBC-NCL Category: 10% less than the cut-off score of the Open category.

  SC/ST Category:  20% less than the cut-off score of the Open category.

  PWD Category:  30% less than the cut-off score of the Open category.
